Support Early Detection and Intervention

One in every 700 Australian babies is diagnosed with cerebral palsy every year. Until recently, a diagnosis of cerebral palsy was not made until a child was 12 to 18 months old. However, babies can now be diagnosed with cerebral palsy or at ‘high risk of cerebral palsy’ as early as three months old. Getting the right diagnosis early means babies can start appropriate interventions and supports to help them reach their best potential.
